Corvette Run flats vs Regular Tires - Episode 6
Video Transcript: welcome back to C&S Corvette's you guessed it it's Friday and it's Lyle with his podcast today we're going to talk about run-flat tires versus regular tires now run-flats have been an option on Corvette since 1994 and they were standard equipment 97 all the way up to now other than certain models like the zo6 here's the deal if you have a c5 or c6 and you've got 40 50 thousand miles on you drive it regularly and now it's time for tires you have two choices you can either go back with the factory style run flaps or you can go back to regular normal tires my personal opinion run flats are hard heavy loud and expensive other than that the great when GM introduced the zo6 in 2001 all the car magazines went gaga over what the great handling was how they had transformed the car well the only thing they really did it's all the same suspension components they put regular tires on the car and all of a sudden it was grippy and responsive and a pleasure to drive and for the price of one good year extended mobility tire which one's about $440 you can pretty much have a set kumo or Sumitomo regular tires for the price of one run flat now GM will tell you that they preferred you for run flats on the car and if you live in a neighborhood or drive through neighborhoods that aren't all that great we don't want to break down I understand stay with the run flats however if you drive your car in the open country if you like to drive your car with sporting intent I highly recommend going to regular tires and you can do the same thing GM did when they did the zo6 they put a can of fix-a-flat and an air compressor in the right rear compartment in the trunk that was standard equipment that was there roadside help kit with the money you save over buying run-flats I promise you can buy a lot of fix-a-flat and a lot of compressors and you're going to really enjoy the way your car the way it rides the way it sounds any questions feel free to give me a call at 800-886-5064
